Our Clients Say

Saskia Mills
My garden has recently been completed by Ed Ambler. The process from start to finish was seamless, and communicative. I enjoyed the way Ed really listened to what I wanted to create and took those ideas, and budget, and really spent time thinking outside the box to ensure that my ideas could be met within my budget. He drew up plans for me so i could envisage what was in his head and made sure that the planting scheme was of a Mediterranean style that I wanted to create the 'Ibiza' look that I was aiming for. Ed's time keeping was impeccable and he really worked hard throughout the project, staying late whenever needed to ensure it stayed on schedule. Since the garden has been completed it is a constant source of joy and wonder for me every time I open my curtains in the morning; also for my guests who come to enjoy the last rays of sun on the terrace or quite often I catch them in the morning staring out in wonderment from the French doors, admiring the stepped structure of the garden or just wondering how on earth someone created something so special in such a small and tricky space. Thank you Ed for everything, without your hard work and commitment it would still be just a horrid heap of rubble and a couple of ghastly fir trees.
Paul and Julia Cooper
We commissioned Ed Ambler to design and construct a major hard landscaping project In our garden at the start of the year. Over twelve weeks Ed constructed retaining walls, two patios, steps, path, planters built from Cotswold stone for the walls and Indian Sandstone for the paving; including a small pond and rockery water feature. The carpark was regraded and gravelled to complete the makeover. We could not be more delighted with the finished product, it has transformed our garden. Ed has great attention to detail and a fantastic eye, and these together produced a wonderful result.
Simon Binder
Ed Worked at Wick Cottage for 10 months, unfortunately beginning during a lousy winter with gales, storms and all manor of other weather related challenges. Nonetheless, he produced dry stone walls and flagstone terraces that I am certain will be admired for the next few generations. Ed is cheerful and hardworking but he also has great style and can bring much more to the overall design than just building it. He is an artist and treats his construction work as the production of a picture. Which of course, it is. We are proud of what Ed produced at our house and would not hesitate to ask him again if needed. And he's a nice guy with great stories too!
Julia and Julian Summer
Julia and I are delighted with the way that the garden has turned out....you have been very clever in overcoming all the obstacles. Don't wait till the spring to check out the garden! Come any time to see the first year's results of your labours - wonderful. If you're ever nearby do just come and see for yourselves.
A private client
Ed Ambler and his colleagues spent over eighteen months working on our property; renovating the buildings and completely re-landscaping the grounds to provide a beautiful garden for us and our children. He has come back intermittently to add further touches in the years since. He interpreted designs and was always on hand to discuss and offer advice for all aspects of the project; a true collaboration. Ed sees things that most landscapers wouldn't, offering great creative ideas that made run of the mill landscaping a more creative process, and always ready to interpret my ideas, however challenging they might seem! A pleasure to work with throughout and an excellent eye for detail.

Why Choose Us

Ed started designing gardens as wedding presents for a couple of friends, when he was a full time fine artist with a passion for trees and gardens. He makes paintings and drawings to this day, whilst making beautiful gardens as a living, rather than just as presents. We will provide the right team to maximise efficiency whilst maintaining a degree of flexibility to give you a collaborative and tailored service, bringing in sub-contractors and professionals to complement our core services when needed. No project is too small or large, and we have the experience and expertise to cover all aspects of your design, landscaping, or repair and renovation needs.
A passion for making beautiful things has fueled Ed's work, whether making highly finished drawings and paintings, or gardens that add style and function to peoples homes. This passion means that Ed bring's an artist's eye to his work and an attention to detail and craftmanship that will make your garden your own work of art; one you will interact with, grow with and enjoy for life.
Throughout the project we will consult and discuss each aspect of the process from the initial site visit to snagging and signing off. The project is your baby and it is my job is to make your dreams reality; consequently, I work hard to maintain the collaborative approach throughout the process, with scheduled site meetings and constant feedback on progress at every opportunity....if something needs changing or adding or taken out of the original plan, I will be happy to work through it to find the best solution and implement any changes as seamlessly as possible.
